Dear residents,

Like many of you, we are deeply concerned about the spread of COVID-19 in Melbourne.

There were 363 new cases yesterday and we have now seen daily triple digit increases in new cases for the past 14 days.

The majority of infections are community acquired, so every time you leave the village you risk being infected.

Our hospitals and intensive care units are filling with people who have become critically ill with the virus.

I am conscious many residents are still leaving the village daily, and this poses a risk to the village community.

We are asking you to stay at home or within the village until the virus is under control.

There are only four reasons Victorians are allowed to leave home. They are:

• To shop for food and essential goods or services
• To provide care, for compassionate reasons or to seek medical treatment
• To exercise or for outdoor recreation
• For work or study, if you can’t do it from home

We can help with on-line shopping, medication deliveries and medical consultations within the village.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, or loss of sense of smell or taste), even mild ones, you should:

• Get tested
• Self-isolate in your apartment
• Alert your village manager immediately so the team can provide any support you might need, including personal protective equipment (PPE).

From Thursday, the government has mandated that if you leave your home you must wear a mask.

This means you need to be wearing a mask or suitable face covering whenever you leave your apartment, including when you’re on the village grounds.

There is a $200 fine for anyone caught outside without a mask, so we are happy to provide you with a one if you need it. Just ask at reception.

Every Victorian has a role to play in helping stop the spread of COVID-19, and I want to thank you for playing your part in that effort.
