Resident update  - Thursday 5 August

Dear residents and family members.

This afternoon Victorian premier Daniel Andrews announced the state would be going into lockdown again, effective from 8pm today.

The decision was made in response to a number of mystery cases of the highly infectious Delta variant of COVID-19 discovered in the Western suburbs of Melbourne earlier this week.

The lockdown is scheduled to last seven days and means:

• You can only leave your home for five reasons: getting groceries and supplies, exercise for up to two hours (maximum of two people), care or caregiving, authorised work or education that can’t be done from home, and getting vaccinated.
• Shopping and exercise must be done within 5km of your home.
• Public gatherings are not allowed.
• You are still not allowed to have visitors in your home, expect for an intimate partner or as part of a single person’s bubble arrangement.
• Masks must continue to be worn indoor and outdoors, except in your own home.
• At Weary Dunlop and Nellie Melba, the village centres and all village amenities will be closed.

It’s incredibly disappointing to be back in lockdown – Victoria’s sixth – and I want to acknowledge the stress and anxiety I know many of you will be feeling following today’s announcement.

Our village staff will be offering our residents every support during the lockdown, and I encourage you to get in touch if there’s anything we can do to help during this time.

Be kind to yourself, reach out to friends and neighbours who might need some support, follow the guidelines, and hopefully we’ll be back on track this time next week.

Stay Safe,
Paul Sutton
Victorian Operations Manager
