Satisfy your thirst for knowledge with Te Papa’s collections online. Virtually tour the collection’s 800,000 botanical and zoological specimens, cultural objects, artworks, and photographs at your leisure.
Visit the collection for free at https://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/. Begin by typing any word in the ‘Search the collection…’ box. For example, let’s start by typing ‘Ocean’. Then click the magnifying glass icon to search. On the left-hand side, filters will appear to support our search. Let’s tick specimen. Click on an item of interest to view a photo and more information. Click the image to enlarge it, then choose + or – to zoom in and out. The back arrow at the top of your browser will take you back to your search results.
Te Papa isn’t the only attraction to offer online access. Aquariums and zoos are livestreaming their exhibits, art galleries and museums have opened their virtual doors, and orchestras, theatres, and dance companies are sharing their performances online with the world.
