Ryman Healthcare has donated $115,283.86 to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre while announcing Dementia Australia as its new charity partner for 2025/26.

Over the past 12 months, residents and staff from Ryman’s nine Australian villages dug deep, holding bake sales, quizzes, raffles and other fundraising initiatives to support the iconic wellness centre.

During a cheque presentation held at Nellie Melba Village, Chief Operating Officer Marsha Cadman praised the dedication of residents and staff.

“It’s an incredible effort by all our Australian villages,” Marsha said.

“Fifteen thousand people across Australia and New Zealand work hard every year to support our chosen charities, and this year our Australian team really went above and beyond, raising $65,283.86 — one of the highest amounts ever achieved by Ryman villages in Australia.”

The combined efforts of residents and Ryman’s contribution brought the total donation to $115,283.86.

Accepting the cheque on behalf of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre, Susan Bird, Head of Partnerships, highlighted the difference these funds make.

“Your generosity translates into hundreds of moments of care and calm for patients and their families,” Susan said.

“The Wellness Centre receives limited government funding, so every dollar raised directly supports people navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.”

Susan reflected on the legacy of Dame Olivia Newton-John, noting her vision for combining science and compassion in patient care.

“Olivia believed deeply in treating the person, not just the disease. Your support keeps that dream alive and ensures every patient has access to care that goes beyond oncology and radiology.”

The event also marked the announcement of Ryman's new Australian charity partner for 2025/26 — Dementia Australia.

“I’m thrilled to announce that our new charity partner will be Dementia Australia,” Marsha said.

“They’re the national peak body supporting people living with dementia, their families, and carers. It’s a cause that touches so many in our community, and we’re incredibly proud to stand alongside them in the year ahead.”

Professor Tanya Buchanan, CEO of Dementia Australia, said the partnership reflected shared values.

“This partnership demonstrates our shared commitment to supporting people living with dementia and their families,” Tanya said.

“Dementia is now the leading cause of death in Australia, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood conditions. Together with Ryman, we can raise awareness, provide vital support, and make a real difference in people’s lives.”

The afternoon concluded with residents, staff, and guests enjoying refreshments and celebrating another year of remarkable community spirit and generosity.
