Resident and family update - Tuesday 16 March 2021
Dear residents and family members.
Yesterday, the federal government launched the next phase of its COVID-19 vaccination program.
This phase, called 1B, means people aged 70 years and over are now able to book an appointment to be vaccinated at one of 285 approved GP clinics across Victoria from March 22.
There are a number of approved clinics near our villages, including Brandon Park Medical Centre, Wheelers Hill Medical Clinic, Glen Union Medical Centre, Burwood Healthcare, and The Highton Clinic.
There have been reports of strong initial demand so don’t be discouraged if you struggle to get through to your GP clinic straight away, or there are no appointments available.
We’re still very early in the vaccination roll out and we expect it will become easier to receive a vaccine as more resources, including drop-in vaccination sites, become available.
Because our village communities are home to a lot of people who are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, I strongly encourage you get vaccinated as soon as you’re able to.
If you have any questions about the vaccine, have a chat to your GP about it. They have all the information you need about how it works to protect you and the people around you.
